The World Meeting of Families (WMOF) Icon will arrive in Newry Cathedral on Monday 12th February at 11.00am and will remain in the Cathedral until Sunday 18th February at 1.00pm. This week in the parish is a special week of prayer in preparation for the meeting of the World Meeting of Families from 21st ‒ 26th August and the planned visit of Pope Francis. During this week the times of organised, community prayer are:

Monday 12th February at 7.30pm.

The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop McAreavey for all the sporting organisations of the diocese at 7.30pm.

Tuesday 13th February ‒ Day of prayer for the Sick of the Parish.

Visit the Cathedral, pray and light a candle for the sick of the parish.Prayers

Wednesday 14th February: Ash Wednesday ‒

Mass will be celebrated at 8.30am and 10.30am & 1.15pm and ashes will be distributed after these masses.

Thursday 15th February ‒ Day of Prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament for all victims of Abuse,

concluding with a Holy Hour from 8.00pm ‒ 9.00pm.

Friday 16th February ‒ Bishop McAreavey will Celebrate Mass at 7.30pm for the members of St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society. This day will be a day of prayer for vocations to the priesthood, the diaconate and the religious life.

Saturday 17th February ‒ from 3.00pm ‒ 5.30pm The John Paul II youth will organise ‘Night Fever’ in the Cathedral. All are invited to call into the Cathedral, say a prayer, light a candle and there will be an opportunity for confessions. The Saturday evening Vigil Mass will be a Mass celebrating the Ministry of the Family. Everyone is welcome.
